J

on Mangiagli is the owner and builder of Mangiagli Surfboards in Hermosa Beach, California. This is the city where the entire surfboard industry started, and Jon joins a legacy of master shapers like Greg Noll, Hap Jacobs, Bing Copeland, Dale Velzy, and Rick Stoner. The Cypress Street factory began as Rick Stoner’s “Rick Surfboards” retail and shaping facility. Jon’s father, Steve Mangiagli, was a laminator there and eventually purchased the shop in 1975. He later went on to co-create the world-famous Hermosa Beach brand, Becker Surfboards. Jon recently grabbed the reigns at the factory and with over a decade of experience under his belt, continues to excel in the same space where his father once produced so many magic boards. Every Mangiagli board is hand shaped and beautifully glassed by Jon. Whether you’re looking for a classic log, a blazing fish, or one of his unique pin-tail rippers, Jon can build it. With an old school heart and an eye for speed and performance, as well as a collaborative team of unique, local artists, owning a Mangiagli Surfboard is as close to owning a piece of Hermosa Beach surfing history as you can get.
